The Royal Role & The Public
The Royal House of Meriam plays an active role in public life across Canada, engaging in state and official visits, royal audiences, and serving as patrons of charitable, cultural, and spiritual organizations.
Guided by the leadership of HRH Prince Donald, a recognized Two-Spirit leader and Reigning Prince, the Royal Family promotes unity, service, and reconciliation through its presence and participation in national events, community ceremonies, and Indigenous initiatives.
Through these duties, the House of Meriam honors its centuries-old legacy while embracing its modern role: uplifting communities, strengthening cultural ties, and serving the greater good.
Community Visits
The House of Meriam places great importance on engaging with communities across the country. These visits provide an invaluable opportunity to meet people where they live and work, while also gaining meaningful insight into the unique character, traditions, and challenges of each community.
Whether visiting a city and meeting with the Mayor, Council Members, Members of the Legislative Assembly, or Members of Parliament – or traveling to an Indigenous community to meet with the Chief and Council, attend ceremonies, and connect directly with residents – each visit is centered on building relationships and strengthening ties.
Community visits also include time with local organizations, schools, and cultural groups, allowing the House of Meriam to experience and celebrate the richness of local culture, knowledge, and traditions.
These journeys are at the heart of the House’s commitment to service. They reflect a dedication to listening, learning, and honoring the voices of people in both large cities and small towns, as well as Indigenous communities whose heritage and leadership are vital to the fabric of the country.

Royal Patronage
Patronage has long been a way for members of distinguished families to support and highlight worthy causes. Historically, patronage often meant direct protection and advocacy, but today it serves as a way of bringing attention, credibility, and encouragement to organizations and events that make a meaningful difference in society.
Through patronage, awareness can be raised for charitable initiatives, cultural projects, community organizations, and special events that align with values of service and contribution to the public good.
Application for Patronage
Applications for patronage are considered on an ongoing basis and are assessed in relation to current commitments and areas of interest.
To be eligible, an organisation should be well-established, demonstrate sound governance and financial responsibility, and show a clear record of positive community impact.
Patronage may be granted for a fixed period or in support of a particular event such as exhibitions, performances, or conferences.

Royal Audiences
Public Audiences are a vital and longstanding tradition within the daily life of the Royal Family. They provide an opportunity for members of the Royal Household to dedicate time and attention to individuals whose work or contributions merit recognition and engagement.
His Royal Highness Prince Donald graciously hosts many of these Audiences, extending a warm welcome to political leaders, religious figures, and distinguished individuals who have achieved excellence in their respective fields.
Through these private meetings, His Royal Highness not only honours the accomplishments of these individuals but also gains deeper insight into their work and impact. In doing so, he offers them a meaningful and memorable Royal experience, affirming the value of their service to community, province, and country.
Official Portraits
Official portraits of the Head of the House of Meriam are typically taken each year to mark special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas, or other significant anniversaries. These portraits may be presented as paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, or photographs, each created to reflect the dignity of office and the responsibilities it represents. The formal character of an official portrait highlights the symbolic role the House of Meriam holds in society, while also serving as a lasting record of important milestones and traditions.

Initiatives & Projects
Meriam Beautification Project
Founded by His Royal Highness Prince Donald, the Meriam Beautification Project is dedicated to transforming shared spaces into welcoming, vibrant, and inspiring places for everyone. While North Battleford is the home base, the vision is to grow and expand these efforts to other cities across Saskatchewan and beyond.
Projects include:

Adopt-a-Pot Program – Community planters filled with colorful flowers, greenery, and seasonal interest.

Public Parks Renewal – Redesigning and upgrading parks with new landscaping, features, and improved accessibility.

Landscaping Initiatives – Creating inviting green spaces with trees, shrubs, and sustainable plantings.

How We’re Funded:
The projects are supported through community donations, sponsorships, and fundraising events. Every contribution directly helps us create more beautiful and welcoming spaces.
The Meriam Beautification Project is more than just planting flowers—it’s about creating pride, strengthening community bonds, and leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
Royal Warrant
The Royal Warrant is a prestigious mark of recognition given to those who are regular suppliers of goods and services to the Royal Family
The decision to award a Royal Warrant is made by HRH Prince Donald of the House of Meriam
Royal Purveyors are allowed to display the Royal Cypher with the words “By appointment to HRH Prince Donald of the House of Meriam” or “Purveyors to the Royal Family of Saskatchewan” on the packaging of their products.
The Royal Warrants are regulated by a Contractual agreement.
